FAQS

Frequently Asked Orthodontic Questions

Starting orthodontic treatment comes with plenty of orthodontic questions, whether you’re researching care for your child, your teen or yourself. At Smile Experience Orthodontics, we believe you should always understand what to expect. These FAQs answer some of the orthodontic questions patients and parents commonly ask as they begin their smile journey.

Your first visit

You can reach out to Smile Experience Orthodontics directly to request a complimentary consultation or ask orthodontic questions. Our team will evaluate your smile, discuss any concerns you have and help you understand your options. In-office and virtual consultations are available, so you can get started in the way that works best for you.

Bring your dental insurance information and complete your new patient forms ahead of time if possible. If you do not finish them beforehand or have orthodontic questions, that’s okay! Just arrive a little early. Your first visit also includes the records Dr. Rosenberg or Dr. Czajka need to evaluate your teeth, bite and treatment needs.

Sometimes! Certain patients may be able to begin treatment at their consultation, while others start within the following weeks. Occasionally, dental care needs to happen first. Dr. Rosenberg or Dr. Czajka will let you know what timing makes the most sense for your smile and answer any of your orthodontic questions.

That is completely fine. An orthodontic evaluation does not automatically mean your child needs braces right away. If treatment is not necessary yet, Dr. Rosenberg or Dr. Czajka can monitor how the teeth and jaws develop, answer your orthodontic questions and recommend the right time to take the next step.

Your appointment schedule depends on your treatment plan and how your smile is progressing. Regular check-ins allow our team to monitor tooth movement, make any necessary adjustments and answer orthodontic questions along the way. Invisalign® patients, for example, typically visit about every six to eight weeks.

Absolutely. Your dentist and orthodontist have different but equally important roles in keeping your smile healthy. Continue scheduling routine dental cleanings and exams during orthodontic treatment. Good preventive care helps keep your teeth and gums healthy while our team focuses on improving your alignment and bite.

Give our team a call or text so we can answer your orthodontic questions and help you determine what to do next. Not every broken bracket or lost aligner requires an immediate office visit, but contacting us promptly helps prevent an unexpected issue from interfering with your treatment progress.

Yes, before you begin, our team will review your customized treatment plan, anticipated cost, insurance benefits and available payment options. Smile Experience Orthodontics accepts several insurance plans and offers flexible payment choices, including in-house financing, to help make orthodontic care easier to fit into your budget. Visit our patient information page to learn more and find answers to your orthodontic questions.

Absolutely. Your life does not stop when orthodontic treatment begins! Let us know about sports, activities, work commitments or an important event coming up. We can discuss treatment options and practical ways to help  orthodontic care fit as comfortably as possible into your everyday routine.

It may still be worth getting another opinion. Smile Experience Orthodontics has extensive experience treating patients with Invisalign®, including more complex cases. If you have previously been told clear aligners are not an option, our team welcomes you to schedule a complimentary second opinion and we’ll answer all your orthodontic questions.

Yes, transfer patients are welcome. If you move, change providers or simply want another opinion about your current treatment, Smile Experience Orthodontics can review your records and current appliances to determine the best way to continue your care.

Some movement can happen over time, especially if retainers are not worn as recommended. If you notice changes in your smile, contact our team sooner rather than later. Depending on how much shifting has occurred, you may only need a new retainer or a shorter touch-up treatment.
