Did you know a survey found that about one-third of adults in the United States are unhappy with their smile? If you’re one of them, the good news is modern orthodontic treatments can give you straight teeth and a healthy bite more quickly, aesthetically and comfortably than ever before.

And while I do have adult braces patients, Invisalign is the hands-down favorite for the grown-ups at Smile Experience Orthodontics. Here are 8 benefits of Invisalign that our adult patients love:

  1. The Clear Aligners are Super Discreet

The modern metal and clear braces I use are low profile. That said, they’re still visible, which isn’t ideal for every adult. Whether you don’t want to draw attention to your smile, you’d feel silly with brackets and wires or you have a public-facing job, Invisalign could be the better option for you because the aesthetics are hard to beat.

The BPA-free plastic aligners are clear, smooth and designed for your unique dental anatomy. Most people won’t be able to tell you’re wearing them. You can continue to smile confidently all throughout your treatment. In fact, seeing your smile take shape right before your eyes can be really motivating.

  1. Straightening Your Teeth With Invisalign is Convenient

Invisalign aligners are removable, which makes them extremely convenient. You’ll take them out to eat and drink and brush and floss, so there are zero food restrictions and oral hygiene is simple (no floss threaders!).

Plus, there’s nothing that can break that would necessitate a repair appointment. The appointments you do have are quick, easy and spaced further apart because aligners don’t require adjustments.

  1. Invisalign Aligners are Comfortable

Invisalign aligners are thin and fit over the entire arch of teeth. The smooth plastic won’t irritate your lips, cheeks or tongue like braces can.

While you might have a bit of soreness when you first start treatment and, sometimes after changing to a new set of aligners, it’s mild and, for the most part, you’ll forget you’re even wearing the aligners.

  1. Treatment Can Accommodate Oral Health Concerns

Adults are more likely to have or have had an oral health issue like gum disease, tooth decay and/or restorative treatment (i.e., crowns and bridges) than kids or teens. And that’s okay! As long as your teeth and gums are currently healthy, your teeth will shift into place without a problem.

However, I often recommend Invisalign for adults whose smiles need extra care. This is because you can brush and floss and get professional dental cleanings like you normally do and there are no brackets and wires that plaque and food debris can accumulate around. Depending on the type of dental restorations you have, it may not be ideal to place braces brackets on them.

  1. You’ll Spend Less Time at the Orthodontist

One of the first questions our Oak Ridge and Wayne, NJ Invisalign patients usually ask is, “How long does Invisalign take to straighten teeth?” It really depends on your case with treatment times ranging from six to 30 months. For most patients, braces and Invisalign will be about the same duration.

That said, as I noted above, Invisalign aligners don’t require tightening or adjustments. You’ll simply visit our office every eight to ten weeks for a quick check-up, so we can monitor your progress. Overall, you’ll spend less time at our office.

  1. Invisalign Won’t Get in the Way of Your Lifestyle

Are you the star of your soccer league? Are you a fan of pick-up basketball games? Do you play a wind instrument in your spare time? Another of the key benefits of Invisalign for adults is that treatment won’t interfere with doing the things you love.

The lack of brackets and wires means you can hit those jump shots or high notes without worrying about cutting your lips. To protect your smile, you can even take your aligners out to wear a mouthguard while playing sports.

  1. Treatment is Flexible

Invisalign is one of the most flexible adult orthodontic treatment options. What does Invisalign treat? My team and I can address many cases of crowding, spacing (gaps between the teeth), an overbite, an underbite, a crossbite, overjet teeth and an open bite with Invisalign aligners.

As the #1 Invisalign provider in Wayne and Oak Ridge, NJ, I have extensive experience with clear aligners. So even patients with complex cases can get Invisalign at our practice.

But what if you had a relapse after past orthodontics and you don’t want or need comprehensive treatment? Invisalign is perfect for limited treatment too! I can create the exact number of aligners needed to quickly and affordably shift your teeth back into place.

We can also use limited treatment if you only want to address mild cosmetic concerns or you need to move teeth to support other dental work like getting a dental implant

  1. The Results Speak for Themselves

I plan your treatment on a computerized 3D model of your mouth. I’m able to move each individual tooth into its ideal place on the virtual rendering for maximum precision and a smile customized to fit your facial features. I’ll even show you what your new smile will look like before you start treatment.

The Invisalign lab then fabricates your aligners according to my specifications. This accurate digital treatment planning combined with Invisalign’s proprietary SmartTrack® material and SmartForce® features make it a highly effective option for a wide range of orthodontic problems in patients of all ages.

Take a look at some of our Invisalign results to see for yourself what treatment can do for your smile. Achieving straight teeth and a healthy bite has serious benefits, including reducing your risk of tooth decay and gum disease, alleviating jaw and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain, helping you chew and speak properly and more. That’s not to mention the life-changing confidence that comes from loving your smile.
